Presidents Day Regatta Recap
Our U17/16/15 Boys and Girls crews traveled down to Long Beach for the Presidents Day Weekend to participate in their first race of the 2022 season. Aside from select boats which traveled to USRowing Youth Junior Nationals in 2021, this is the first time we have sent whole teams to a spring regatta in two years!
The regatta had some age-based events but also “Novice” events. Since we at Marin have transitioned our teams to the new USRowing standard age categories, this meant that some of our younger, less experienced rowers raced up in traditional “Varsity” categories. Nevertheless, all of our athletes raced hard-fought races with some excellent outcomes.
Of the 15 races we entered, we came home with eight first-place finishes, seven second-place finishes, four fourth-place finishes, and one 5th place finish.
