Raoul Wertz

Vice President

Raoul Wertz joined the Marin Rowing Association Board of Directors in 2018.

Having grown up living on the Boardwalk along Corte Creek and as a youngster watching crews practice on the waterway, joining the Redwood Crew during
high school in the early 1980s was a natural step. He had the privilege of learning to scull under the tutelage of our club's founder, Bob "RC" Cumming.

After rowing in college (U.C. San Diego and Dartmouth) and sculling as an adult in Boston and in Marin, he has been a member of the MRA Masters Men's team for several years. Through rowing he met his wife Wendy, also an active member of MRA. Their son Brennan rowed at MRA during high school, then at Stanford, representing the U.S. in three World Championships.

The sport and our club are sources of tremendous joy (and health) for him, and he enjoys recruiting others - novices and veterans alike - to join our teams
so that they can benefit from the exercise, teamwork, comradery and connection to nature that rowing provides and fosters.

Professionally, Raoul works as an Inspector with the County of Marin's Department of Agriculture,
Weights & Measures.
