Rick has a BA from the University of California, Berkeley where he rowed on the crew team, and a MBA from Stanford University. He spent 30 years on and around Wall Street, as a pioneer in the mortgage and junk bond markets and a co-founder of Redwood Trust, a Mill Valley-based REIT. In 2007, he started On Keel Capital to provide personalized financial guidance to busy families in Marin County and San Francisco. After a 30 year absence from the water, in 1999 Rick was granted permission by his son Ross (who had just wrapped up his own career with the Junior Men’s Program) to resume his rowing career by joining the Master Men’s Program. He was co-chair of the Capital Campaign to rebuild the boathouse and joined the MRA Board at the end of 2010. Rick has four children and lives in Mill Valley, California. He enjoys rowing his single, golf, skiing, and the myriad of other activities and requirements associated with being a hands-on dad.
