MRA to Host US National Adaptive Team

Marin Rowing will be hosting the US National Adaptive Team for Winter camp being held January 2nd through January 8th. US rowing is funding the transportation of the adaptive team members and coach to have a 1 week winter training camp here at MRA.

In order to keep the costs of lodging down for the athletes, I am looking for homes for the athletes for the week of winter camp Jan 2-8. The athletes in the 4, will need no special accommodation. The fixed seat rowers are in wheel chairs, and would need accommodations without a lot of stairs.

You have all been very generous and accommodating with me so that I have been able to row with the masters womens program, and compete with the US national adaptive team. I am pround to be a part of MRA, and am excited to have my team experience your generocity, and acceptance! I hope you will enjoy seeing the team in action, with our beautiful fully accessable boathouse! Thank you so much.

Lighthouse For the Blind Outreach Program

Over the weekend the club hosted kids from the Lighthouse for the Blind, and gave them a fun day of rowing instruction. (LightHouse is a non-profit that promotes independence, equality and self-reliance in blind and visually impaired people, via rehab training and relevant services.)

Activities on Saturday included trying out the ergs upstairs, learning to handle an oar using dock boxes, and then a row out on the creek in an 8+. The day was capped by pizza and refreshments.

Thanks to all the varsity girls and other club members who helped make the day so fun and rewarding for all.

Christening of the James Z. Pugash 8+

As many of you know, Jim Pugash passed away in September. The Marin Rowing Association needs your help to purchase an 8+ in honor of him. We are reaching out to friends of the MRA to contribute to this worthy cause.

UPDATE: On Saturday, November 25, we christened the James Z. Pugash 8+. The boat was rowed by the Pugash family rowers following the christening! Thanks for all your help.
