MRA Policies
Drugs and Alcohol
The use of alcohol and illegal and performance enhancing drugs is strictly prohibited. This includes use:
• at the boathouse
• while rowing out of the boathouse
• at any event under the name of MRA or associated with the name of MRA
• at away regattas when representing MRA
Regatta Travel
• No athlete shall drive him or herself to an away regatta or home from an away regatta. In addition, no athlete will drive with another athlete to or from an away regatta.
• While attending an away regatta with your team, remember that you are representing the Marin Rowing Association, your Teammates and Coaches. Please behave accordingly.
Jumping Off Bridges
• No athlete may jump from the 101 bridges into the Corte Madera Creek. Jumping is against the law, as well as extremely dangerous.
Theft
• Theft at the boathouse will not be tolerated.
Penalties for Violation of Policies
• The penalty for a first violation of any of the above policies by a junior member will be determined by the Executive Director in communication with the Coach of the program and the Board of Directors of the MRA in it’s sole discretion, and may include suspension and/or permanent expulsion from the MRA, without reimbursement of any portion of membership dues or program fees paid or due.
Procedures for Enforcement
While all adult and junior members are encouraged to report violations to coaches, the Executive Director or director of the MRA, the coaches and Executive Director are charged with the initial responsibility of investigating and determining whether a violation of the Policies as occurred. On making the determination that a violation has occurred, the Executive Director shall promptly inform the member who committed the violation and the Board of Directors. The member shall have five days to request that the Board of Directors review the determination. A failure by the member to request review by the Board of Directors within five days shall be deemed an admission of the violation. If the member requests a review, he or she will not be subject to any penalty until after the review. The Board of Directors shall review the determination at its next regularly scheduled meeting. If the Board is informed of a subsequent violation by a member, it shall have until its next regularly scheduled meeting to determine what additional penalty, if any, to impose on the member. If the Board does not take action at that time, no additional penalty will be imposed.
Parking
• All drop-offs and parking in commuter lot only
• No parking in office complex lot
• No parking past the stair tower on the MRA lot
• Do not block fire access road outlined in red
• No speeding – Limit 5 mph through parking lot
Personal Gear
• Store all personal gear in the appropriate locker room. We don’t recommend leaving money or valuables in the locker room.
Locker Room
• Wipe down sink area after practice
• Pick up garbage on the floor
• Step-on the overflowing garbage can
Classroom
• No food
• Keep clean
Erg Room
• Clean up after yourself. Towel down the area of sweat, spit, etc.
• Use garbage pail outside if you are feeling ill and then clean up after yourself.
• Volume kept under 50.
• All food, bottles, etc. picked up each day and put into garbage cans located around the building.
Facility Equipment
• RevMaster Bikes, Ergs and weights are not to be played with. Use the equipment with care and use each piece with safety in mind. The leg press is not to be used by summer campers.
• Oars and boats are to be carried with care not ot touch or hit anything. No talking when carrying the equipment.
Facility
• Clean up water bottles off dock and out front at end of each day.
