Fundraising

Marin Rowing is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization particularly focused on teaching the youth the value of teamwork, sportsmanship, a respectful competitive spirit and leadership.

We rely on the generous contributions of our alumni, membership, friends and families to maintain high quality programs, facilities and equipment for both our juniors and our adults.

There are many opportunities to contribute throughout the year, whether it be through out Flat Water Annual Campaign, our Annual Ergathon, Biennial Auction, via eScrip or at any time you feel you’d like to make a contribution towards the organization! We truly appreciate your support.

Flat Water Fund

For all of us, rowing is a fulfilling part of our lives and enhances our physical well being.  While true for a lot of rowers all over the world, we are fortunate to be able to indulge this passion in one of the world’s most successful competitive clubs.  We have a confluence of great talent, a spectacular venue, a state-of-the-art facility, and a superb organization that produces winning results time and time again.  The Marin Rowing Association has become one of the nation’s strongest rowing programs with perhaps the best coaching staff for Juniors and Masters alike.  That is why Marin rowers are routinely found among the world’s winning crews.

A key component of Marin’s success is the Club’s financial strength and a willingness among members to pay more than what’s required to cover operating costs.  We direct our annual fund raising drive to all of you and ask that you join the Board of Directors, Junior parents, Adult Members and Alumni in making a contribution to the Marin Rowing Association Flat Water Fund.

Contributions will help fund scholarships for talented athletes with financial need and establish reserves for major capital expenses, (e.g. dock repairs and dredging) that are necessary to maintain or enhance our state-of-the-art facilities.

To achieve our ultimate goals, we are depending upon 100 percent participation from all of you.  You can make a meaningful difference in helping sustain our Club’s winning traditions by contributing now.  On behalf of all athletes, parents, and members who benefit from their connection to the MRA, we thank you very much.

Annual Ergathon

Ergathon 2011 took place on February 5&6 at the Bon Air Center and to date has raised over $25,000. Our ergathon is held once each year in February and raises funds for needed equipment to keep our junior program at the top of its game. We are still collecting contributions so donate today!

Marin Rowing’s 120 Junior rowers attempted and succeeded in breaking five 100,000 meter world records during twenty-four hours! Starting at noon on Saturday, February 5th the athletes broke into smaller groups to break a variety of world records where no one athlete competed for more than one record. No other club has attempted more records in this short of a time frame or has ever  held five records.

While Marin Rowing currently holds one world record and has previously held many others, Dartmouth University holds the most current world records with three.  Marin now holds 6 world records, including the five completed within twenty-four hours on the first weekend of February.

This achievement is special to our program because different athletes will achieve all six-world records, giving fulfillment to all athletes in the program, not just the upper tier, as is the case with many of the world records. As a program, we strive to reach the Youth National Rowing Championships each spring as well as building the character of all the student athletes who compete in our program. This is another opportunity for our athletes to be successful on the National and World stage that they can be proud of for many years to come.

Marin Rowing athletes represent over 20 different local schools and grades 8 through 12. We proudly have athletes that will be attending Stanford, Harvard, Columbia, Brown and Berkeley next year to continue their rowing endeavors.
