This past weekend Lake Natoma hosted the 2010 NCAA Women’s Rowing Championships and Marin Alum were all present and accounted for. All of us at Marin are so proud of these athletes for their outstanding results across the board.
Here is an overview:

Maren McCrea – Senior (Redwood ’06, Yale ‘10) sat 5-seat in the Yale Varsity 8+ and won the NCAA National Championship for the 2nd time in addition to a first place finish at the Eastern Sprints. Maren’s dad is our own John McCrea and her sister Lela just completed her rowing career with Marin and is now off to row for Dartmouth. Charlotte Palmer – Junior (Tam ’08, Cal ’11) rowed bow in the Varsity 4+ for Cal and took a 2nd place behind Virginia in the final. Jenna Levy – Sophmore (Redwood ’08, Stanford ’12) coxed the Stanford Varsity to a 5th place finish at NCAA’s and a 2nd place finish in the Pac-10. This is Jenna’s second year coxing the Varsity 8+ at Stanford and won NCAA’s last year as a Freshman. Caroline Rosetti - Freshman (Sacred Heart ’09, Cal ’13) rowed bow seat of the Varsity 8+ at Cal. The V8+ won the Pac-10 Championships and took 4th place at NCAA’s. Caroline was in the V8+ at Marin and won 2 National Titles with us before showing the rowing world her strength by making the V8+ in her first year; a feat which is not often matched. Erica Rippe - Freshman (Drake ’09, Cal ’13) rowed 7-seat in the JV 8+ for Cal that took 3rd place at NCAA’s. Erica was also in both Marin Nationals winning 8+’s. Charlotte, Caroline and Erica each had their hand in Cal taking home a 2nd place team title at NCAA’s. Olivia Ley - Freshman (Branson ’09, Princeton ’13) rowed 2-seat in the JV 8+ for Princeton all year ending the season with a 5th place at NCAA’s. Oley was also in the Marin V8+ in ’09. Audrey Wooster – Freshman (Redwood ’09, Princeton ’13) stroked the Princeton V4+ winning the petite final. Audrey was in the Marin V8+ for both National titles.

Up this weekend in New Jersey? The IRA’s, which is the Men’s National Championship Regatta and includes the Lightweight Women’s 8+. Marin alum Chelsea Lucas will be coxing the Men’s Freshman 8+ for California. Natalie Wong (Redwood ’07, Harvard ’11) will race in the Varsity Lwt 8+ for Radcliffe, Caitlin Morgan (Drake ’09, Stanford ’13) will race in the Varsity Lwt 8+ for Stanford. On the men’s side, Dillon Seitz (Redwood ’06, Northeastern ’10) will race in the Men’s V8+ for Northeastern, JD Carbone (Redwood ’09, Cornell ’13) will race in the Freshman 8+ for Cornell, Sean Engle (Redwood ’09, Cal ’10) will race in the V8+ for Cal,and Jonny Hoon (Redwood '08, Cal '12) will cox in the Open 4+.
