After a very long hiatus, Rachel and I are excited to announce the next MarinRowing singles ladder, a 2500m member's only race conducted entirely in singles! It has been entirely too long between ladders, so we're going to try to have one every month through the summer to make up for it. So, get out in your singles and start practicing, then, come down on Sunday afternoon, June 7th and give the ladder a shot, even if you don't scull very much!

When: Sunday, June 7, 2009
Mandatory Race Meeting: 1:45pm
First flight start time: 2:15pm
(high tide at 2:15pm)
Second flight: approx. 2:45pm
More flights: if needed.

The race will begin just off of the MRA main dock and proceed up the straightaway until you come to a buoy. You will then have to turn around the buoy as fast and s afely as possible, then return back to the starting line for the finish. The course is bi-directional to cancel tidal and weather differences. Click on theimage below for a map of the course:

The race will be run one person at a time, 15 seconds apart until the first flight has all been started. When those boats come back, they will dock and people rowing the next flight will switch into their desired club boats and line up for the next race. Details will be given at the race meeting at 1:45pm. Youcan row the race in any shell you'd like, from an Aero to a private racing shell. We will record your time and it will determine your position on the finalladder, which will be posted at the rear of the boat house and on the website.

The ladder will be run once every two months, so you can compete both againstyourself and other rowers in the coming ladders. Times and rank will only be divided between men and women, no handicaps will be applied.

So, whether you're an expert sculler, or just want to try it, come on down, get in a boat, and see how you fare. Email me with any questions.
