The Marin Varsity Boys and 9 Novice Boys traveled to Newport Beach this weekend and raced at the Newport Autumn Rowing Festival, with strong showings from both. In the Junior Men's category, the Men's Varsity Eight rebounded well from an 8th place finish the week before at Head of the American by placing 3rd, behind only Capital and Newport, in a time of 14:53.
In a tremendous showing of determination and skill, the Men's Lightweight 8 decided to race in the same event as the heavies after no one entered the lightweight eight. They started in the very last slot and passed 4 boats, finishing 9th out of 25, with the JV finishing 10th, 1 second behind the Lights. The Varsity Boy's also raced two 4's, finishing 4th and 9th out of 14 boats. And the victors of the day were the Novice Boys, who raced in a field of 12 boats and owned the competition, winning by a margin of 1:09 seconds. Nice Job Everyone!!!
