Marin Rowing Association’s high school crew teams earned a world record today for meters rowed on an ergometer (rowing machine) in a 24-hour period at the non-profit’s annual fundraiser, the Ergathon 2008, held from noon Saturday, February 9 to noon Sunday, February 10 at the Bon Air Shopping Center in Greenbrae. The young men and women from MRA’s varsity and novice teams rowed 425,904 meters in the ergathon relay, besting their own Concept2-certified world record set in 2006 with 418,164 meters rowed in a 24-hour period. In 2007, the team set out to achieve and earned individual world records in men- and women-only 24-hour ergathon events.
